Sami Kuhmonen
Who Am I?
I have 30 years of experience in software development and other IT functions including server and infrastructure administration, hosting services and team management. My main motivation is to work on solving problems that help people and make a difference in their lives so I usually choose my work based on that.
The areas I have worked in include medicine, drug research, security systems, education, drone surveillance and by doing that saved lives, made people safe, enhanced their access to education, and at minimum made their work much easier.
I'm obviously a versatilist. I don't see a reason to limit myself to some specific thing when I can learn and do all kinds of things. Need automated drone fleet movements? Sure. Editing Java bytecode to fix issues in closed libraries? Done that. Design, plan, and build whole realtime remote learning platform with simulations and text/voice chat? Done that too. Built mobile systems to help blind people orientate around and locate themselves? Been there. Mentored people and managed small teams, helped in business planning, so much more.
I am very good at delving deeper into problems and to get the complete picture to make sure we are working on the right thing. I can work in both research and development type of ad hoc projects building proof-of-concept level products as well taking them further to production level - and of course in existing codebases and enhancing them further.
I like to help others and by doing so deepen my own knowledge. Being active in Stack Overflow helps me help others and I'm also ready to mentor and push up new talent. I am always ready to listen and work together to find solutions.
My work usually revolves around the .NET ecosystem and Vue.js in the front end but I can do C++, TypeScript and many other languages and platforms when necessary. I have also written mobile applications and games for iOS, Android, Symbian, and Windows Phone. Containerizing systems and pushing to Kubernetes. Modernizing old things to new technologies. Whatever you throw at me I'll have a go and most likely I'll succeed, but if it's above my skills I'll definitely say so.
Having been an entrepreneur for over 25 years has given me a better understanding of the whole industry and can consider issues from both the development side as well as the business side. I can easily talk to both sides but I prefer to stay on the development side.
If you need a person who is efficient in their work, doesn't just pick up tickets and push code around, can talk to different stakeholders, isn't afraid to put themselves up to spearhead new developments or help others reach their potential - get in touch.
I'm open to work offers, either as an employee or through my company Tokavuh Technologies.
